Why We Only Use The King James Version 
We encourage our people to use the King James Version of the Bible. Our pastor has used nothing but the King James Versions since 1974 when Life Gate Baptist Church was founded. All of our Sunday School Teachers use nothing but the King James Bible. Why do we use only the King James Version?
1. Because it is an accurate translation of God's Words from the original languages.
The words of the bible were originally given to Moses, David, Paul, and other Bible writers in the languages of Hebrew (O.T.), Aramaic (parts of the O.T.), and Greek (N.T.). While the originals no longer exist, (most of them were worn-out from use), God promised to preserve His inspired words for every generation.
Psalm 12:6-7 6 The words of the LORD [are] pure words: [as] silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. 7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
Isaiah 40:8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
There are more ancient copies of books, or parts of books of the bible, than any other piece of ancient literature. Some of the best of these copies, preserved by the power of God, and meticulously duplicated by hand by faithful men over the centuries, lead to our English Bible, the King James Version. The King James Bible was not a totally new translation, but was based on previous English translations including William Tyndale's translation of the New Testament, (AD, 1526) Hebrew manuscript, and the Masoretic Text. The New Testament was translated from the best available Greek manuscripts. Most modern Bible translations are made from corrupt Greek manuscripts, which are missing hundreds of words, phrases, and/or whole verses.
Check you Bible to see if the following underlined words are missing from these verses:
Colossians 1:14 "In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins."
Colossians 1:20, "And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven."
Matthew 1:25, "and knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS."
If you were to buy a brand-new car, take it home, and find that it was missing parts, you would probably return it to the showroom and demand a refund! Why should we use a Bible that is missing some of God's inspired words just because it is "modern?” The King James Version contains ALL of God's words, translated into English.
2. The KJV is considered, even by many secular scholars, to be a literary masterpiece.
We love the King James translation because of its beautiful use of the English language. The English in which the King James is written is actually more accurate than today's English. For example, in modern English, the word "You" can mean one person, or many people. In the King James Version, different words are used to distinguish between "you" referring to only one person, and "you" referring to more than one person.
"Ye" and You"= YOU, referring to more than one person. For those of us in Alabama, the southern slang equivalent of "Ye" and "You" might be "Y'all."
"Thee" and "Thou"=YOU, referring to only one person.
Here is an example in the Bible when both words are used in the same sentence. "Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again." (John 3:7)
In this verse, Jesus is talking to a man named Nicodemus and He uses both, the word "thee" and the word, "ye" in the same sentence. It is easy to see from this example, when we understand the difference between "thee" and "ye" that Jesus was telling Nicodemus, who was a Jew, the he should not be surprised that all of the Jews (and ultimately everyone in the world) must be born again in order to see God's Kingdom.
3. There should be a unity in the worship in the House of God.
Romans 15:6, "That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ."
2 Corinthians 13:11, "Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you."
Philippians 1:27, "Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel."
Philippians 2:2 "Fulfill ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind."
1 Peter 3:8, "Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous."
At Life Gate Baptist Church, we believe that it is a hindrance to unity in the worship service, when the preacher is preaching out of one translation, half the congregation is using another translation and the other half using yet another.
What We Don't Believe About The King James Bible
1. We do not believe that there never was a Bible in English before the King James Version.
The Wycliffe Bibles (translated from the Latin Vulgate) were greatly used of God before a translation could be made from Greek. William Tyndale gave us the first printed English New Testament translated from Greek. He was strangled to death and burned by the Roman Catholic Church because of his translation work. The King James Bible was strongly influenced by Tyndale's translation, and certainly, Tyndale's New Testament, and O.T. translation of the Pentateuch and the Book of Jonah. the great Geneva bible, which was the Bible of the common people from 1560, (and remained so after the 1611 KJV was published for many years), is also the Word of God in the English language. There were other English Versions, which used good Hebrew and Greek manuscripts and were well-translated. We should not forget our history.
2. We do not believe that people in foreign lands who speak other languages must be taught English so that they can read the KJV in order to have the Word of God.
We believe that the Bible should be translated into the native tongue of every people on earth. We believe that Bible translations, if possible, should be made from the original languages of Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic, and not from English. If it is not possible for an English speaking missionary who is translating Scripture to use the original languages, then we believe that he should use the King James Version as his basis for translation, since it is the most accurate English translation.
3. We do not believe that English speaking people must read the King James Version in order to be saved.
We do not believe that people who have been lead to Christ out of the N.I.V. or other corrupt versions are lost. If this upsets you, keep in mind what Jesus said to the Jews in John 5:39, "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me." the Jews thought that they had eternal life in the Scriptures, but Jesus said that they should have seen from the Scriptures the He was the only Savior! Jesus is the Savior, not the Bible. The Bible tells us about Christ, and points us toward Christ. The written Word reveals the Living Word. In John 14:6, Jesus said to Thomas, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." The Bible shows us the Way, but Jesus is the way.
4. We do not believe that the English of the King James corrects the Hebrew or Greek.
5. We do not believe in being uncharitable to Christians who use the N.IV. or Living Bible etc.
We do not believe that all of these people are carnal or backslidden or lost, any more than we believe that all KJV only Christians are spiritual, etc.
6. We do not believe that the great need of the English speaking church is a new translation.
We believe that the congregations of the English speaking world have, as their greatest need, the need to read, believe, and be obedient to the King James Bible that they have.
